In this session, we will explore the evolution of these types of performances and the expanded audience they are designed to reach. We will discuss why they are important, who the audience is, why we need to standardize our language regarding these shows, and what qualities are necessary to identify a show as “sensory inclusive.”

The performing arts lead the way in improving communities, speaking up for equity, and bringing out the best in humans. At the same time, they are also important contributors to the climate and waste crises. Karin, who is a touring musician but has an advanced degree in biology, brings to this discussion 25 years of leading conservation work abroad, and 8 years as one of the national coordinators for EcoMadres, a program of the Environmental Defense Fund.
