Tropicante – Upbeat Latin Music

Tropicante will have you swinging and clapping to the Colombian “cumbia,” the Dominican “merengue,” the Venezuelan “tambor,” the Brazilian “samba,” Mexican “polkas,” and more. Upbeat music from many Latin cultures! Tropicante’s lively concerts are sprinkled with first rate musicianship, humor, and when possible, audience involvement – a perfect act for Hispanic Heritage Month or any event calling for joyous energy.

Lead singer and percussionist, Ed East, is Panamanian. His upbringing in Panama City was infused by the noise, hustle, and bustle of a large metropolis. Karin Stein, his Colombian partner, brings to the music of Tropicante the melodic perspective of her upbringing in rural Colombia. She grew up on a remote cattle ranch and rice farm in eastern Colombia.

Depending on the occasion and venue, Tropicante will perform as a quartet (guitar, congas, vocals, bass), or as a quintet with a keyboard. Ask about our master classes and workshops!
